Just some of the wide extensive range of affordable and designer lenses we have in our collection at Lydney.

When it comes to choosing a pair of spectacles an important part of the process is choosing the frame. A frame can be functional, help you make a statement about your own personality or indeed both. You will want to know how strong and durable the frame is, does it come in different sizes and colours ? Is it a designer frame ? there is no right or wrong answer to what is right for you, it is down to personal taste and preference. However our Qualified Dispensing Opticians will be able to assist you in making the right choice.

Over the years there have been many developments in materials used and this has led to many new designs and concepts.

The most recent developments has been in the rimless range of frames. With the production of ultra thin and lightweight materials for lenses you can, with the rimless style have the appearance of not wearing glasses at all. We have a selection of frames from such people as Silhouette, Airtight, Stepper, and Minima.

Another new style are the flexible frames from people such as Flexon which are able to bend and the return to their original shape. So if you are heavy handed with your frames, either because of the type of work you do or just life style, then this type of frame would be more suitable to your needs.

Facial Shapes

We are all different, each one of us is unique and although we may have family resemblances no two of us are alike, even identical twins have some slight differences. Therefore the frame that you wear may not look right on someone else. Take a look at the chart below. Apart from facial shape your hair colour/style and facial colouring play a part in what is suitable for you. Our Qualified Dispensing staff will be very happy and able to talk you though the various frame styles with you so that you get the best for you. Your prescription will also play apart in the frame you choose, ( a higher prescription usually means thicker heavier lenses) a smaller frame can help cut down on the lens makeup and be better from a cosmetic/weight point of view. However size of frame does play a more significant part when requiring varifocals. Again our highly qualified staff can assist you in finding the right frame for your life style and fashion needs.
